ASEC selection

I'm really so into this competition. too bad at the same time I have USM-ITB Terpusat and teachers said that I should give this opportunity to my junior.

ASEC or ASEAN Science Engineering Challenge is a competition based on Global Engineering Challenge. last year, Indonesia had sent one team to compete but didn't win. It's a competition to make a product, plan or service that using science concept (especially physics) which has economic value. they must make the prototype of the product, business plan and presentation about their product.

since I cannot made it this year, I was chosen to be one of the judges, selecting 3 students that will represents my school. lots of students applying for joining this competition, total of 40 something from 10 and 11 graders.

first round was held yesterday to choose 15 students for the next preliminary round. they are divided into 9 different groups consist of 6 students. their first challenge is to make a system that can make school's MPH cooler. I judged team 4 - 6 which quite creative but anyway we scored them individually. the results, we didn't get 15 but we get 18 students haha..

the last preliminary round is today. those 18 students divided again to 3 teams with task of making a small-scale generator with alternative energy. 2 teams using magnet while the other team use jarak oil. from each group, we take 1 student to represent madania.

it's a tough job though but I love it. there is 1 candidate that I like from the first time I saw him spoken his idea. and fortunately, he made it to the top 3! weehee! I wish that I can join ASEC next year when I enter college. amin..
